    Fat transfer to buttocks - What is it?

    Fat transfer to buttocks enhancement is the enhancement of the buttock by your own fat cells, which is brought about by previously absorbing fat from areas with excess fat deposition.

    Depending on the task, such as buttock enlargement, shape correction, asymmetry correction, or filling of small defects (dents or depressions), different amounts of fat from 1020 ml to 400500 ml per side may be required.

    The process

    How is the process of augmenting the buttocks with your own fat performed ?

    After consultation, examination by Dr Anas Gherissi, excluding contraindications and passing all the necessary tests, the process of plastic buttocks with fat takes place in the following sequence:

    • Injection of anesthesia and skin treatment with antiseptic drugs;
    • Buttock lipofilling surgery is performed under general anesthesia and will take around 3 hours depending on the amount of fat to be removed and the desired shape and size of the buttocks.
      Liposuction of the donor sites is the first step in the procedure. Through small incisions placed in well-hidden areas of your body, a liposuction cannula is used to harvest fat cells
    • Carry out cleansing of fat cells from various impurities: intercellular fluid, fibers of connective (fibrous) tissue, erythrocytes, not preserved fat cells, etc.;
    • Direct injection of the prepared fat into the upper part of the buttocks. Fat is injected through a cannula puncture. Punctures are made in 2 (less – 3) insertions along the edges of the desired zone. The size of the puncture at the injection site will be up to 1-2 mm.

    Advantages of lipofilling compared to buttock augmentation with implants

    There is also such an option of buttock augmentation, as gluteal augmentation – an increase of the buttocks with the implants. This technique has many disadvantages.

    1. Lipofilling can be performed under local anesthesia, and the installation of implants necessarily requires general anesthesia.
    2. The rehabilitation period will be much more painful, and after lipofilling, the patient practically does not experience pain, since the fat layer is poor in nerve endings.
    3. After the installation of implants, there are very strict restrictions during the first month before the engraftment of a foreign object, which proceed from the fact that they cannot be pressed on, that you cannot sit or sleep on your back. Some restrictions can be lifelong. In addition, there are a number of complications after buttock augmentation with implants. After engraftment of implants and the formation of a capsule, their displacement is not excluded. From the pressure on the implant, his pocket can expand and the implant will become mobile. This can also happen when playing sports related to the load on the legs: squatting, running.

    Results of fat transfer to buttocks

    The volume of the buttocks will already be significantly bigger right after the procedure but you will have a better idea of the final result 3 to 4 months after that when post-operative swelling has disappeared and poorly vascularized adipocytes have been eliminated.

    On average, 60% of the injected fat remains after the procedure. In favourable cases, 80% of the injected fat is retained. The more stable your bodyweight will be the more stable your result will be.
